In order to get signed up for the group, just fill in your email address in the box below.

You may be required to create an account on Google and must have your usual email account VERIFIED. If you have a gmail account or are on another Google Group, you will still need to verify your account. After you have signed up below, you will need to monitor your email account for a verification email from the WHCHA Google Group. You may need to check your BULK or SPAM folder. Until your email account is VERIFIED, you will not be on the group. If you have any problems, contact: whchanews. Once you are on the group, you will automatically receive email messages. You may modify your account from individual emails to digest or abridged. You may also search previous DISCUSSIONS on the group page.

Purpose

The purpose of the WHCHA Goggle Group (WGG) is to provide a means of communication to all residents regarding EVENTS (examples: WHCHA Annual meeting, LR City Board or Planning Commission meetings, WHCHA Kids Halloween Party, Firefighter Appreciation, etc.), ALERTS (examples: lost/found pets, criminal activity, unsafe water conditions, etc.), and for GENERAL INFORMATION (examples: residents in the news (from births to deaths), icy road updates, business referrals requests, etc.) The WGG was not created to be a forum for extensive discussion of issues. The FORUM on the website was created as an unmoderated outlet for those types of conversations. With over 200 people on the WGG, it is important that the volume of email does not become too cumbersome or too high-volume.

Standards

The WGG is a moderated list, which means that messages are reviewed before going out for appropriateness and relevancy. Messages that will not be approved:

  • profanity or inappropriate topics
  • political or religious topics
  • negative comments or revealing personal information about a neighbor or anyone else
  • personal or commercial advertisements (this does not apply to referral requests and replies (examples: yard service, housekeeper, plumber, etc.)

Since the purpose of the WGG is to share relevant and timely information and not for extensive dialogue, some discussions have been CLOSED. For the most part, these topics can be found in the FAQ on the website. Many of these topics are sources of frustration and irritation to neighbors, but they have been discussed, investigated, taken to the appropriate agency of change, and given a negative response. Topics such as the right-turn only lane and speed bumps have been presented to Bill Henry, LR Traffic Engineer, and he has firmly stated that these requests are not do-able. These issues have been asked and answered, so there is no point in these topics being discussed repeatedly on the WGG. However, exceptions to this may be made if an individual or group, after consulting with the appropriate committee and/or WHCHA Board, has decided to pursue an issue further, perhaps as a subcommittee. Messages to the WGG on any meetings or updates on the issue would be appropriate.

Authority

The WHCHA Board has complete authority which is entrusted in the group moderator or moderators.

The Board may block or ban any person who abuses the privilege of being on the WGG. Since the group is moderated, only the moderator/s will be aware of the problem. The moderator may contact the individual privately with an explanation for the decision to not approve. If a person repeatedly sends inappropriate messages, the Board will likely have the moderator ban the individual from the group permanently.

The Board may alter the conditions for subscription to the WGG. The Board has discussed allowing only WH-C residents who have paid their annual HOA dues to be on the WGG. According to the WHCHA By-Laws, all homeowners are HOA members. The Board currently requires that anyone wishing to submit an article to the newsletter is current on dues. With the additional work for the moderator and the belief that communication in our neighborhood is vital, the Board allows the Google Group and subscription to the newsletter to be open and available to all residents.

The Board could delete the WGG. This is an extreme scenario, not likely to happen, but something the Board has the authority to do.
